Floor Screed Cracking

Potential floor failures cracks found in the floor once the construction is meant to be complete are often blamed on screed failures when it is more often because of problems within the subfloor zone.
Floor screed cracking. It is an irregular pattern of fine cracks in the concrete which is known as surface crazing. If the stress relief joints are not in the correct place or perhaps not used at all the screed may crack. Did he lay the celotex under or over the concrete slab. Its not normal to crack and creak under foot.
In fact they tend to be more visible when the floor gets wet as the very fine cracks trap moisture and dust. Should i bother to fill these before a wooden floor is laid over the top. Next pour about 1 inch of screed onto the floor and lay down long wooden battens to divide the room into 10 foot wide strips. Is the substrate moving.
The screed floor seems sound and fairly flat and even. When commission underfloor heating in a screed there will be thermal movement. However unless you are tasked with the maintenance or repair of concrete floors you may not realise there is a name for this particular feature. I have cracks across a newly laid screed floor.
